Questions and Useful Links What happens in the first session? An initial meeting is agreed. This is an opportunity to discuss your needs with a Therapist and it is also a good time to ask any questions you may have. Issues like fees, times and duration of sessions, and further details of our confidentiality policy and counselling contract can also be discussed.
What is your confidentiality policy? The contents of the sessions would be confidential between you and the therapist with some clearly defined exceptions including working strictly within Child Protection policy guidelines. Any concerns about you being either a danger to yourself or others would usually lead to a discussion between you and the counsellor, to encourage you to contact a third party for extra support e.g. your GP. Confidentiality is discussed more in the initial session.
How many sessions will I need? Everyone is individual so it is difficult to say. Some people need just a few sessions to work through a crisis, others like to stay longer. We might suggest an initial block of sessions but you have a choice of what is good for you. We would also regularly review how you feel the sessions are going and book further appointments.
